Tahoe Mold & Water Services

Emergency Response
At Tahoe Mold & Water we offer 24 hour emergency response. There is no need to call a plumber; we are a one stop shop. It is very important to stop water damage as soon as possible before damage spreads and leads to mold. An emergency service charge applies to all response calls needing emergency assistance or that are outside of normal operating hours (Monday – Saturday 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.). Call 1-888-583-MOLD.
Insurance Negotiations
In most instances, water damage and mold damage is covered by your homeowner’s insurance. So it very important to work with a contractor that is familiar with insurance company negotiations. Not all insurance companies are the same, and some will underestimate your damage to save themselves money. This can result in inferior repairs or even out of pocket expenses. We will work directly with your insurance company to make sure your home is repaired the way it should be and allow you to focus on other things than constantly dealing with insurance adjusters and inspectors. This service is included in our estimate and in some cases we will pay your insurance deductible. Ask to see if you qualify
Mold Inspections
Mold may begin growing indoors when mold spores land on surfaces that are wet. Typically mold is visible and gives off a “musty” odor. In some cases, you may have hidden mold that is not visible to inspection of exposed surfaces. Mold may be hidden in places such as the back side of dry wall, wallpaper, or paneling, the top side of ceiling tiles, the underside of carpet or pads, inside ductwork, etc. Is sampling for mold needed? In most cases, if visible mold growth is present, sampling is unnecessary. Since no EPA or other federal limits have been set for mold or mold spores, sampling cannot be used to check a building’s compliance with federal mold standards. Surface sampling may be useful to determine if an area has been adequately cleaned or remediate. We provide visual inspections and remediation estimates free of cost. Sampling and testing can also be provided for an additional fee. Learn more: EPA Mold Guide (PDF).
Water Damage
When water leaks or spills occur indoors-ACT QUICKLY. If wet or damp materials or areas are dried 24–48 hours after a leak or spill happens, in most cases mold will not grow. The most important part is to repair what had caused the water damage in the first place. As a General contractor, Tahoe Mold and Water can do any plumbing or roofing repairs necessary to prevent something like this from happening again. We provide Water Extraction Services and work with professionals who can repair your water soaked rugs and furniture. In cases where water penetrates between walls causing framing to get wet, Structural Dehumidification may be necessary to prevent hidden mold from growing inside your walls. Structural Cleaning and Decontamination
Since mold has adverse health effects, it is very important to remediate the problem properly. Mold can hide between walls, in your heating system, and still may be present after all visible indications and smells are gone. Also if you do not take care of the moisture condition that breeds the mold, it will return again. Without proper containment during remediation, mold spores can contaminate other areas that were not previously contaminated. The general rule is if the contaminated area is larger than 10 sq ft, then you should seek the assistance of a professional like Tahoe Mold and Water. Specific Reactions to Mold Growth

Allergic Reactions
Inhaling or touching mold or mold spores may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Allergic reactions to mold are common — these reactions can be immediate or delayed. Allergic responses include hay fever-type symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash (dermatitis). Mold spores and fragments can produce allergic reactions in sensitive individuals regardless of whether the mold is dead or alive. Repeated or single exposure to mold or mold spores may cause previously non-sensitive individuals to become sensitive. Repeated exposure has the potential to increase sensitivity.
Asthma
Molds can trigger asthma attacks in persons who are allergic (sensitized) to molds. The irritants produced by molds may also worsen asthma in non-allergic (non-sensitized) people.
Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis
Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis may develop following either short-term (acute) or long-term (chronic) exposure to molds. The disease resembles bacterial pneumonia and is uncommon.
Irritant Effects
Mold exposure can cause irritation of the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and lungs, and sometimes can create a burning sensation in these areas.
Opportunistic Infections
People with weakened immune systems (i.e., immune-compromised or immune-suppressed individuals) may be more vulnerable to infections by molds (as well as more vulnerable than healthy persons to mold toxins). Aspergillus fumigatus, for example, has been known to infect the lungs of immune-compromised individuals. These individuals inhale the mold spores which then start growing in their lungs. Trichoderma has also been known to infect immune-compromised children. Healthy individuals are usually not vulnerable to opportunistic infections from airborne mold exposure. However, molds can cause common skin diseases, such as athlete's foot, as well as other infections such as yeast infections.
